The route of the Paralympic Torch Relay has been presented, and the website has been launched

On March 7 there will be one year to go until the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games. To mark the occasion, a grand presentation ceremony took place in Moscow's Red Square, at which the full route of the Paralympic Torch Relay was announced. 

The one-year countdown until the start of the Paralympic Games in Sochi was officially started by the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. The Paralympic Games relay itself will begin on February 26, 10 days before the start of the Paralympic Games. The Relay will take in 44 cities from all 8 federal districts of the Russian Federation. During the Paralympic Torch Relay, the torch will be re-lit each time it enters a new region, using various original methods: a hammer and flint, the sun's rays, a Russian oven and even a spark from a volcano.

The route of the Paralympic Torch Relay is as follows:

February 26, 2014 - Far Eastern Federal District: Anadyr, Vladivostok, Magadan, Khabarovsk, Yakutsk

February 27, 2014 - Siberian Federal District: Biysk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Sayanogorsk, Seversk, Ulan-Ude

February 28, 2014 - Ural Federal District: Ekaterinburg, Noyabrsk, Tyumen, Khanty-Mansysk

March 1, 2014 - North-Western Federal District: Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Petrozavodsk, Pskov, St Petersburg, Cherepovets

March 2, 2014 - Central Federal District: Bryansk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Moscow, Orel, Sasovo, Tambov, Tver, Tula, Chekhov, Yaroslavl

March 3, 2014 - Volga Federal District: Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saratov, Ufa

March 4, 2014 - North Caucasus Federal District: Nazran

March 5, 2014 - Southern Federal District: Volgograd, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi.

As the President of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, pointed out, during the Relay each city will be able to feel what it's like to host the Paralympic Games for a day, and enjoy being "at the center of the world's attention".

The Paralympic Torch Relay will conclude at the "Fisht" Stadium in Sochi, where, on March 7, the grand Opening Ceremony of the XI Paralympic Games will take place. Approximately 20% of the participants in the Relay will be people with disabilities. 

The Paralympic version of the Torch Relay website also began to operate today. In the "Our torch" section you can see the blue-and-white symbol of the Paralympic Games. In the "Area covered" section you will find a list of the cities taking part in the Paralympic Torch Relay.
