Torch Relay visited the city of Kamensk-Uralsky

In continuation of the route, the Torch Relay visited the city of Kamensk-Uralsky, the third largest city in Sverdlovsk Region. 25 torchbearers carried the Flame, the symbol of the Winter Games in Sochi, through its streets. Among those who earned the right to be part of the history of the Olympic movement and to participate in the Olympic Torch Relay were multiple winner of the World and European Championships in Taekwondo Andrey Kress, multiple winner of World, European and Russian Championships in Powerlifting Olesya Lafina, and oncologist Martin Adams Halene. Arriving in the Ural from Kenya, Martin Halene has long worked as a surgeon in the city hospital. He devoted his run with the Torch to his family and friendship between the peoples of Russia and Kenya.

Residents of Kamensk-Uralsky marked the arrival of the of the Sochi 2014 Relay with a kind of Olympic carnival: the torchbearers' route was greeted by spectators dressed in snowy Olympics mascot costumes - the Polar Bear, the Leopard and the Hare.

Kamensk-Uralsky, the birthplace of motorcycle sport in the region, surprised spectators from around the world with a striking finish. Vice world champion of the Motorcycle Championship Evgeny Shcherbin drove the final meters with the Olympic torch on a motorcycle with a sidecar. At Lenin Komsomol square, the torchbearer in the motorcycle sidecar was delivered by father Sergey Shcherbin in front of 5,000 happy spectators. The Flame was transferred to the Lantern, and the relay carried on.
